Operation Alaska
September 7th marks the date for those whom enrolled in a series of classes ins
tructed by William Hagy in the newly formed Glass Firenze studio located in Eagle River AK. Over 30 students had the opportunity to build on existing skills as well as take in some of the expertise offered in the variety of classes offered by our resident artist William Hagy. Sculptural classes enabled students to take in the possibility’s of working into both nature, abstract and assembly. Also the pendant and Bead classes had quickly filled so there was an additional two classes offered to accommodate those booked on the waiting lists. William Hagy has since returned and will be offering classes after the New Year 2008 so stay in touch for updates in both lampworking as well as our hot shop!
Our 4th Annual open studio was a great time to be had by all!! we thank the volunteers and demonstrators for continued support and once again making our FREE events something not to miss out on!
Tours & Demos
Spokane Tribal Youth
One of the recent events this year gave those enrolled in the summer program at the Spokane Tribal Youth group a chance to sit in on a glassblowing demonstration by William Hagy and learn about the history of glass as well as make their own glass beads and marbles to take home with them!!
We give special thanks to the counselors and directors of the Spokane Tribal Youth group for opening up the opportunity for these young adults and making this a memorable event for everyone to share!
If your business or organization would like to take part in a studio tour feel free to contact us for event scheduling and information.
Super Senior Saints Tour
William Hagy demonstrated various lampworking techniques for those in attendance of the Oct. 07′ studio tour and demonstration for the Super Senior Saints. We thank each and everyone of you that showed interest in both the glassblowing process, the history of lampworking, and furnace work. Your contributions made to our organization are greatly appreciated.
Medical Lake Home School Group
William Hagy performed a live demonstration for a private group of 14 children from the ages of 5-13 as part of our public tours program. Demonstrations are a highlight of the tour, however everyone had time to have questions answered aside from learning about the history, materials, and tradition of glassblowing.
If you would like more information on booking a tour of our glass studio for your private or public group you can contact us by phone or email.

Arbor Crest Annual Art Show
This year in attendance beyond representing various artists from the gallery we had several demonstrations from the likes of; Austin Kochek, Chris Doty, Jane Hughes, and William Hagy. The live demonstrations ran throughout the weekend event giving those in attendance a birds eye perspective of the art of lampworking. We would like to thank those whom volunteered during this event and making it a most memorable one for all to enjoy.
Eugene Glass School’s 4th Annual Flame Off
This year has really been a positive one for the Eugene Glass School’s Annual Flame Off. There are several categories to participate in such as sculptural, goblet, marble/paperweight, and wearables like beads and pendants.
It was a fun one for member, Josh Turner, and founder William Hagy in both participation as well as the surrounding days of demonstrations not to mention the exhibitor booths of Northstar Glass, Nortel Manufacturing, Flow Magazine and many others that turned out for the show. For more photo’s see GlassArtists.
For those of you that have attended in years past, you may remember that the show had been strictly for glass but this year the event has turned into a fine art show featuring regional artists from Montana, Oregon and California as well as local favorites from our community and surrounding areas.
William Hagy’s Incalmo series had been featured in Thursday’s “Today” section of the paper, not to mention a live news broadcast and interview that got some air time for the Northwest Glass Society.
